Community donates $11,000 to Brooklyn street vendor

Community members are coming together to help a Brooklyn street vendor who has been battling COVID-19.

 Community members are coming together to help a Brooklyn street vendor who has been battling COVID-19.  
Sonia Perez has been a street vendor on Bushwick's Knickerbocker Avenue for 20 years, selling Mexican breakfast and tamales. 

News 12 is told she's been out of work for almost a year due to her underlying health condition, making it hard to run her business during the pandemic.Recently, her entire family came down with COVID-19.

For the last several months, Perez says she's been unable to pay her bills and as the sole provider for her family, she says it's been challenging.
The Street Vendor Project started a GoFundMe account to help Perez and her family.  
The fundraiser has raised more the $11,000. The funds are meant to help Perez with bills and help her street vending business survive.
