The Community Education Council has voted in favor of expanding a Vinegar Hill elementary school zone in Dumbo.
Parents say many of the students from P.S. 8 come from wealthy families, while the students in P.S. 307 come from low-income minority families. They say they are worried the influx of wealthy kids will lead to gentrification and ultimately push the others out.
But some parents from P.S. 8 are worried incoming students will be shifted to P.S. 307.
The Department of Education says it will hold several meetings to clear up concerns any parents may have.
