Health care advocates and local leaders gathered in front of the Williamsburg location of Community Healthcare Network after President Donald Trump temporarily froze federal funding on Tuesday.
Officials with the Community Healthcare Network, which has four locations in Brooklyn and 14 locations across the five boroughs, said they get about half of their funding from federal grants.
Those grants were included in the temporary federal freezing of funding this week.
Community Healthcare Network provides low-cost primary care, pediatric care, dental care and so many other health care services to the community.
Rep. Nydia Velázquez said the president's action threatened vulnerable communities.
"We will not let you steal money from vulnerable communities so you can give a massive tax cut to billionaires," she said.
The Trump administration said the temporary freezing of federal funding was needed so the government can root out programs that go against recently signed executive orders that bar funding for diversity, equality and inclusion programs, among other things.
