New York City continues to face the growing opioid crisis head on, and local health workers are looking to teach city residents how to save a life with Narcan.
Narcan is known for reversing the deadly effects of an opioid overdose in an emergency.
“People aren’t hesitant to get CPR training, for example… we want all New Yorkers to have that same feeling about using Narcan,” said Deepa Avula, executive deputy commissioner for the city’s Department of Mental Health and Hygiene (DOHMH).
News 12’s Elly Morillo spoke with a health worker who showed her the step-by-step process of how to determine when someone is facing an opioid overdose and how to administer Narcan.
