Community members in Bedford-Stuyvesant rallied together to stop street violence after a deadly shooting took the life of a teenager last week.
The community gathered Tuesday for an event at Marcy Park after two teenage boys were shot Friday. One of the victims died from his injuries.
One resident says that the reason the community has seen so much violence is because the youth have nowhere to spend their time.
The community is urging elected officials to come up with funding to create after school programs for the youth in the neighborhood. They hope that giving adolescents something to do can help keep them off the streets and away from guns.
Organizers of the event say that they plan on holding more event's throughout the summer to keep the community engaged and away from violence.
