Brooklyn
Brewery has been around since 1988, and in looking for a cost-efficient way to
improve the lighting for their employees, found an incentive program from Con
Edison that helped them lower their energy costs.
“This
is a manual job, hard work,” said Matt Gordon, vice president of operations for
Brooklyn Brewery. “Good lighting helps to make sure everyone is safe and doing
their job properly.”
The
Brewery joined forces with Con Edison back in 2015 and have since
installed LED lighting in their workplace. These lights are brighter and
require less energy than normal lightbulbs, and as a result lowered their
energy cost.
“We
also have refrigeration upgrades, heating ventilation and air conditioning,”
said Caroline Iskander, section manager at Con Edison. “With Brooklyn Brewery
what we were able to do is lead them down a journey that they wanted to fulfill
on their own, but we partnered with them to help them achieve that
journey together."
Con
Edison says Brooklyn Brewery is one of over 40,000 small and mid-sized
businesses that have participated in the energy-saving program since 2009. All
businesses need to take advantage of the program is an active Con Edison
electric or gas account.
