Con Edison says it received reports Monday of an ambulance responding to a person and a dog being shocked while walking over a metal grate in Greenpoint.

A Con Ed spokesperson says stray voltage can sometimes electrify the street. Officials say it can happen after snow because the salt and melting snow get into manholes.

Con Ed is making repairs in the area of Bell Street by Commercial Street to make it safe.
