Some Coney Island Beach patrons complain a buildup of trash is washing out their summer fun.
Beachgoers say garbage bins are so full that rings of rubbish surround them. Some even have horror stories of being stuck by glass and seeing seagulls entangled in trash. Beachgoers want more trash pick-ups and more cleanups. While some say they are avoiding the water, others maintain they won?t let the trash dump on their chance to keep cool in the heat. Some patrons also say the garbage is no worse than other city beaches.
Officials with the Parks and Recreation Department say employees clean beaches in the morning and at night.
