The Parks Department?s measures to repair the Coney Island boardwalk has drawn complaints from some area businesses.
The Parks Department erected a wooden fence at W. 12th Street on the boardwalk and say they?re reinforcing support structures and doing dock repairs. The boardwalk currently contains loose boards and exposed nails.
While business owners agree that repairs are necessary, some argue that the wooden fences obstruct business and ignore the real problem.
?My problem?s with the boardwalk,? says Michael Sarrel, owner of Ruby?s Bar and Grill. ?This is a short-term solution to, I guess, potential danger.?
A Parks Department spokesperson apologized for inconveniencing business owners, but says safer structures will be more beneficial in the long run.
