Hundreds of protesters rallied outside City Hall Friday to voice their opposition to a proposed luxury home development near Coney Island?s historic boardwalk. Protestors, dressed in wild costumes and holding props, say the project goes against everything Coney Island represents and want to block developer Thor Equities from moving forward with the plan. ?We need Coney Island,? said Amelia Fetherolf, who opposes the project. ?There?s so much magic. You can?t bulldoze magic.? But Thor Equities says it is only trying to add to Coney Island?s lure. ?Thor's vision for Coney Island is first and foremost to create a one-of-a-kind entertainment and amusement destination,? the company said in a statement.
