Hundreds of commuters who feel left out by the city's new ferry service expansion are petitioning for access in Coney Island.
They formed the group Coney Islanders 4 Ferry, and they want a stop added on their local waterfront to help ease commutes into Manhattan that many say take up to two hours.
"It's a no brainer," says Daniel Ioannou. "It's been proven that a ferry vessel from here to Manhattan would take just 29 minutes, compared to a commute time of 2 hours."
NYC Ferry launched with stops from Dumbo to Bay Ridge last month.
"We're a peninsula," says Councilman Mark Treyger. "There's only a few ways in and a few ways out."
Traffic can get so bad that he says emergency vehicles have trouble traveling in the area.
"The water's here for a reason," Treyger adds. "Let's use it."
