Two restaurants inside a local hospital have been shut down after failing health inspections. Officials from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene closed down a Burger King/Subway restaurant and a sushi restaurant called Surf City inside of Coney Island Hospital. According to health officials, a restaurant must have less than 27 health violations to pass inspection. Officials say the Burger King/Subway restaurant was given 50 violations, including some for rat droppings and live cockroaches found in the kitchen. Surf City was given 93 violations. Officials say the restaurant was serving raw fish that hadn?t been refrigerated correctly. The hospital says it has already been eliminating fast food with healthier options, which was another reason officials terminated the restaurant contracts quickly.
