Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the arraignment of a Coney Island man for allegedly carrying out a slashing spree in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors say the first slashing happened in the early morning hours of Oct. 25 aboard a Q train in Flatbush. A 37-year-old man was slashed with a razor blade from his lip to his cheek.
Later that day, a 53-year-old man was slashed from his eye to his ear with a knife in East Flatbush.
The following day, a 53-year-old man was slashed across the neck, “narrowly missing an artery,” court documents say.
News 12 previously reported additional victims and spoke to an
80-year-old man who says Head slashed him on Sept. 14 inside the Burlington store located on Tilden and Flatbush avenues.
"These were terrifying, unprovoked assaults that brutalized three innocent men and could have killed someone. Brooklyn is safer today than it has been in decades, with homicides and gun violence at record lows, and we will not allow anyone to undermine that hard-won progress. My office will pursue this case aggressively to ensure accountability and protect the public,” said Gonzalez.
Prosecutors say Head is also linked to a burglary and arson inside a Flatbush residential building the same weekend. He is accused of breaking into the building and damaging property inside before setting fire to the trash compactor room and additional items.
Head faces attempted murder, assault, arson and other related charges. The DA’s office says he is being held without bail and will undergo a psychiatric exam.
Head is due back in court on Jan. 21.
