Coney Island opened its businesses and attractions for the Memorial Day weekend on Saturday.
Daniel Murphy, executive director of the Alliance for Coney Island, said business owners were already at work to ensure Coney Island is ready for the summer.
"As long as we have the weather, as long as we have our city agencies working with us on the boardwalk to keep it clean and safe, we're going to have a great summer," Murphy said.
The businesses along the boardwalk, like Deno's Wonder Wheel, were already up and running.
"It makes me feel great and it makes me feel that all my hard work that we do through the whole winter, to getting ready for the season, it makes it that much better," said Deno's Wonder Wheel manager Denos Vourderis.
Businesses off the boardwalk, like Coney Island Brewery, said they offer a variety for both local residents and tourists.
"It's a very intimate setting, we know everyone in the community. In the summertime, we get to have the same effect and relationship with all the tourists coming in," said Victoria Pitula, Coney Island Brewery's general manager.
"As diverse as the world is, that's Coney Island in a nutshell and it welcomes them every summer," Murphy said.
He added visitors can expect more events through the summer, like Friday Fireworks, which start June 23, and movies on the beach.
