Some Brooklyn parents and students from a Coney Island high school are planning to file a lawsuit against the Department of Education Tuesday.
The Rachel Carson High School PTA president says the lawsuit stems from a sit-in Friday where police arrested five students and one guidance counselor. The students were protesting the removal of their formal principal. Witnesses say some police officers got rough with the students by handcuffing them and putting them in chokeholds.
According to the PTA president, five students received injuries during the dispute. The acting principal, who called in police during the protest, will also be named in the lawsuit.
