The cost of prescription drugs and health care for New Jersey’s oldest residents could be going down.

A new bill introduced in Congress seeks to help reduce inflation on health care needs for senior citizens. The House will vote on the bill Friday.

The cost of drugs would be capped at $2,000 per year if the bill is approved. It would also lower monthly health insurance premiums.

“One in five New Jerseyans are cutting pills in half. They are not filling their prescriptions because of their inability to afford prescription drugs and that is unacceptable,” says Laura Waddell, of New Jersey Citizen Action.
