Connecticut Department of Labor economist Patrick Flaherty says there are currently thousands of job openings in the state.
"In less than two years, we've recovered about 3/4 of the jobs that were lost since the shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic," Flaherty.
"Looking ahead, there are currently thousands of job openings, and we know that employees have been quitting their jobs at record rates. One of the myths around what's been mischaracterized as the great resignation is that people are leaving the labor force. In fact, they're quitting their jobs to take even better jobs. this creates a lot of turmoil for hiring managers but it's actually good that people have taken this moment in time to improve job prospects from what they had before."
