Connecticut pharmacists report increase in people getting booster shot as omicron looms

Pharmacists at Milford Pharmacy say there has been a steady stream of people coming through their doors all day Friday to get a COVID-19 booster, and customers say it's because of the omicron variant.
Gov. Ned Lamont's office says 26% of people in Connecticut have gotten their booster shot, and 72% have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine.
New Haven and Fairfield counties have some of the more serious cases of COVID-19 in the state.
Pharmacists at Milford Pharmacy say if we've learned anything along the way, it's that science works.
"We heard from CVS Pharmacies across the state that say they too are seeing a lot of people getting the booster shot primarily now because they are concerned about omicron," said Jimmy Azhari.
The state Department of Public Health says that two thirds of people in Connecticut nursing homes have gotten their booster shot.
