5ds agoThe rise in gasoline and oil prices is causing a spike in energy costs in Connecticut.
Most of the region's heating oil is distributed from the Sprague terminal on the Stratford-Bridgeport line. The president of Santa Fuel says the company is dealing with the most dramatic price fluctuations in more than a decade.
"Since the conflict in Ukraine broke out, the energy prices have gone insane. Heating oil wholesale costs have gone up well over $1 in the past 10 days," said Santa Energy President Peter Russell.
Some Connecticut residents say they are making adjustments to conserve energy in their home to save money.

Some people say they are turning down the thermostat, wearing heavier clothes and bundling up with blankets to save on the rising costs.
The good news is, while people often use more gas in the summer, the need for heating oil will drop off as the seasons change.
