After a windy, cold day today, there are two weather systems that can impact your travels coming to Nassau and Suffolk counties. The weather will be fine tonight and Saturday, with the wind calming down to a lighter breeze throughout Saturday. But it will still feel cold tomorrow!
The first storm we are watching is a round of moderate to briefly heavy rain on Sunday from late morning through early evening.
Rain totals with this are only expected to be around 1/4 to 1/2 inches.
The wind will likely ramp up to some gusts between at least 20 and 35 mph and the rain will taper off between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. from west to east.
The second storm is a far more complex system. As of now, this one looks to be a mostly rain event, but changes in track or timing could allow for brief wet snow to mix in. If this occurs, this is not expected to amount to anything on the ground.
Rain is the primary type of precipitation on Tuesday at this time and there could be up to around two inches of rain with this for Long Island. The wind could also gust between 20 and 45 mph, depending on the storm track and intensity.
This is one you will want to check back with News 12 throughout the weekend for updates on! The entire News 12 Storm Watch Team will have you covered with the very newest information on-air, on social media and the News 12 app.
Have a great night and weekend!
