In a series of posts from users who identified themselves as police officers, the terms "animals," "savages" and "filth" were used to describe parade participants. The comments have since been removed, but also suggested that future participants should "kill each other." The annual event has been marred by violence in recent years, but residents across the borough say they are not shocked by the NYPD's reported reaction. "I'm not surprised by it at all," one resident said. "Because cops around here, that's how they treat us."
