Council Member Farah Louis hosted the first-ever Anti-Gun Violence Youth Rally in East Flatbush on Friday.
The rally at Nostrand Playground was also the kickoff of an eight-week public safety and mental health initiative for youth in the community.
In partnership with CD-45, this new task force aims to implement public safety measures into the community. It also aims to implement mental health support to ensure the safety in Central Brooklyn.
The campaign is about having a “safe summer,” with an emphasis on anti-gun violence measures.
The rally has special guest performances, local artists, and spotlight booths on local organizations.
Jaquan Pierre is part of East Flatbush Anti-Violence Initiative. He said events like these are fun and serve as a distraction for the other things he could be doing.
