Council Member Justin Brannan proposed a bill to start a study to see how a ferry could impact travel to and from Coney Island.
Coney Island residents told News 12 this could make their travel to and from Coney Island a lot easier.
“The trains are always breaking down hopefully the ferry doesn’t break down," said Dan Koifman, of Coney Island. "It takes like an hour and 15 minutes [to get to Manhattan] but it would be like 20 minutes with the ferry.”
Brannan is asking for the Department of Transportation to find realistic locations for this ferry terminal and local impacts.
One of the areas he says he is looking into is the Steeplechase Pier, which is in the heart of Coney Island, near Luna Park and all the local restaurants and shops on the boardwalk.
