Several people are sick after a COVID-19 outbreak at a Board of Elections warehouse and other offices in the Bronx.
The outbreak comes before a special election to fill the empty seat left by expelled former member Andy King.
The warehouse, along Grand Concourse in Mount Hope, is where voting machines and other equipment are stored.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Board of Elections called those stricken with COVID-19 “essential workers.”
It says in part: “The Board has done everything we can to keep our employees safe. There are daily temperature checks, social distancing, mandatory mask-wearing throughout the offices and plastic partitions at all workspaces."
The BOE says at least nine people have the virus. The special election will be held on Dec. 22.
