COVID-19 vaccines now being administered for kids in NYC

New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout for children under five is underway.
Parents can bring their little ones to get the shot at one of the city’s vaccine hubs, such as NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Morrisania.
Children as young as six months will start receiving the first dose of their COVID-19 vaccines. Parents can make appointments for their children using the New York City COVID-19 vaccine finder, which has been updated to include the new age group. The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control have approved both the Pfizer and Moderna shots for kids from six months to 5 years old. They will be considered fully vaccinated after two doses of the Moderna or three doses of Pfizer.
The vaccines for this age group are a much lower dose compared to adults, but children may experience some mild symptoms, such as soreness at the injection site and fatigue.
Pediatricians say both shots are equally effective and are the best ways to protect the youngest New Yorkers.
Mayor Eric Adams encourages parents speak with their child's pediatrician to see if they can get the shot.
