Officials are working to determine the cause of a late-night fire that caused significant damage to a Brownsville storefront.
News 12 is told the emergency call came in at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Rockaway and East New York avenues.
Fire crews quelled the flames just before 5 a.m. The damage caused part of the three-story building to collapse, part of the reason why the fire took nearly eight hours to put out.
Firefighters say they had to be pulled from the building due to the interior collapse, forcing them to solely fight it from the outside.
People who work in the area say the building used to be an electronics store, but has been closed for the past five years. Now, it is used mainly as a storage location.
No injuries were reported.
