Con Ed crews are onsite working to restore power and repair the damaged pole today after a transformer fire broke out on Lott Avenue and 98th Street yesterday.
There were more than 300 scattered outages throughout parts of the borough at one point.
Con Ed is urging customers to conserve energy during the heat wave to keep power problems to a minimum. In addition, the company has reduced voltage by 5 percent to prevent more outages.
These issues come at a time when Con Ed and its workers union are negotiation a new contract.
