Members from the Crown Heights North Association say the neighborhood is one step closer to becoming a historic district.
Some Crown Heights residents say parts of the neighborhood deserve to be a historic district. Some residents say they have worked hard to preserve the character of the neighborhood. The Crown Heights North Association says becoming a historic district would protect the area against developers.
The four-phase project is on the calendar of the Landmarks Preservation Commission. City officials say Crown Heights North is a community with rich history and beautiful architecture. They add they are excited to move forward with creating the historic district.
Phase one of the project will start at Dean Street and Bedford Avenue. The Crown Heights North Association hopes to have all four phases of the project completed by 2008.
