Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced the first phase of the L project tunnel rehabilitation is complete.

The governor said the project is also ahead of schedule and on budget.

During a tour of the work with the MTA Sunday, Cuomo said the entire Canarsie Tunnel rehabilitation is now scheduled to be completed by April 2020.

The work includes a new cable racking system, new fire resistant cables and a new wall structure.

The MTA says its new approach avoided the looming L train shutdown and allowed regular weekday service during construction.
