The fight continues to save a Williamsburg senior center and day care after Gov. Andrew Cuomo vetoed legislation that would have effectively saved it.
The community organizations that run the Swinging Sixties Senior Center, located at 211 Ainslie St., say Harry and Victor Einhorn purchased the property in 2013. They say the Einhorns then increased the rent before trying to evict the groups. The building also houses the Nuestros Ninos Child Day Care and Small World Day Care.
The organizations are fighting the eviction and plan to hopefully buy the property. They say that winning in court is their only option to gain the property, since Gov. Cuomo vetoed legislation that would have cleared the way for the state to control the building through eminent domain.
The groups will be back in court in November.
News 12 was unable to reach the owners of the property for comment.
