The American Legion held an annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Cypress Hills National Cemetery on Saturday, in honor of thousands of Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country over generations, as well as those who returned home.
"I do it to honor those that I fought with, they deserve recognition," said Michael Rodriguez, who served two tours in Vietnam and is now the Vice Commander of the American Legion's Department of New York.
Other veterans at the event said ceremonies like this one are always a good reason to be around each other and give them the strength to continue fighting.
"To make sure when the government makes commitments to the veterans, that those commitments are fulfilled," said Rodriguez.
