Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Thursday announced the arrests of 18 suspected gang members in East Flatbush.
The "Martense Beverly Bosses" members are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to possess weapons related to eight separate shootings, two of which were fatal.
Prosecutors say the gang, also referred to as "MBB," worked out of East Flatbush and is a branch of the Bloods gang. The DA's office claims the gang is responsible for a shooting at Kings Plaza Mall last July, along with a murder in Crown Heights in September and another just two months ago in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.
Investigators say the gang was ruthless, had no regard for human life and treated shootings like a sport.
Those arrested were indicted this week in Brooklyn Supreme Court. The defendants each face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
