The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office and the NYPD are announcing a 48-count indictment of the 'Brick Squad' gang.

It's part of a two-year-long investigation of the gang, also known as the Immortal Stone Gorilla Gang, which is a subset of the Bloods.

The indictment includes murder, weapons possession, and drug trafficking charges-- as well as other related charges between 10 alleged gang members.

Six of the defendants were arraigned on Thursday. The rest will be arraigned on Friday.

If convicted, the defendants could face up to 25 years in prison--and five could face life behind bars. News 12 is told that along with the gang selling drugs in Brooklyn, court documents show they also traveled upstate, and even to Maine to sell drugs.

District Attorney Eric Gonzalez says that some of that money would be distributed to the leader of the gang, who is currently in prison and had more than $25,000 in his prison commissary account.

"They are about making money and selling dangerous drugs in our communities and elsewhere. They put everyone in danger by their behavior. This is an extensive and long-term investigation," said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez says he hopes the takedown of this gang will help improve the safety of the community.
