Dash cam video captures teens throwing eggs at moving car in Huntington Station

Suffolk County police are investigating after two teens were caught on dash camera throwing eggs at an oncoming vehicle.
The video shows the moment the eggs strike the passing car, startling the driver and causing minor damage.
Police say officers responded to the scene along W. Jericho Turnpike Tuesday evening, but the teens were gone by the time they arrived.
The driver, who did not want to appear on camera, said the damage left him with a $1,700 repair bill for his passenger-side mirror.
The video has since circulated online, sparking mixed reactions. Some view it as harmless mischief.
“Kids will be kids without a doubt. And as long as nobody gets hurt, you know, it’s normal mischief,” said Peter Marino, of Huntington.
But experts warn the situation could have easily escalated.
“When you’re driving, you’re focusing on the highway, not focusing on things coming at you that could actually disturb someone’s driving to the point where they strike another vehicle, get into a serious accident,” said David Sarni, of John Jay College.
Sarni added that those responsible could face more than just a warning, including possible criminal charges or civil liability. In some cases, parents may also be held accountable for their children’s actions.
