Decades-old Moore Street Market slated for a makeover

A popular market spot that's been around since 1941 in Williamsburg is set to get a facelift.
La Marqueta, also known as the Moore Street Market, is home to different grocery vendors, thrift shops and even a barber. Thanks to $2.7 million in funding, the decades-old market is set to undergo an overhaul.
Borough President Eric Adams and Councilman Antonio Reynoso announced the project Tuesday.
The funding will be used for everything from windows to heating, a new cooling system and roof renovations. The plan is to make the upgrades while preserving the culture and history of the market.
The New York City Economic Development Corporation plans to contract a designer and begin drawing up plans in the fall.
