A community mural in Longwood was restored after it was defaced in the winter.
Concrete Connection Mural is a work of art installed outside of Concrete Plant Park in a collaboration between the Department of Health, Department of Transportation and several community organizations.
The organizations that put them up say they were placed along Westchester Avenue to elevate the community.
However, someone defaced it with graffiti a few months ago.
Since then, the groups involved worked hard to restore all 28 portraits done by Brooklyn artist Richard Chance.
The portraits are of real people who visit the park, like Maida Jones, who says she has seen the area change for the better.
"The greenery, the mural, the people are friendly, the park is nice and clean,” she says. “You just have the overhead noise of the subway, but that's it.”
Organizers say they hope the community comes out to enjoy the mural while it is up for the next year.
