Democratic challenger Andrew Gounardes has declared victory over Republican Marty Golden in the state Senate's 22nd District.
With 100 percent of the precincts accounted for, Gounardes holds a lead of just over 1,100 votes.
Gounardes gave a victory speech from Bay Ridge late Tuesday. Golden gave a speech shortly before Gounardes and did not concede.
A Gounardes victory would end a run of eight terms in the seat for Golden.
Gounardes lost to Golden six years ago. This time around, he said he hoped changing political dynamics could lead him to victory.
