Separated by 6,000 miles and a war, Marine Lance Cpl. Michael Cintron heard the first cry of his newborn baby boy as he watched his wife give birth Tuesday morning.
Jeannine Cintron wanted her husband to coach her along during the birth. Thanks to a Web cam provided by the nonprofit organization Freedom Calls Foundation, he could.
?Throughout my entire pregnancy, the one thing that I was most sad about was the fact that I was going to have to do this by myself," Jeannine Cintron said.
"They took the Web cam and placed it in front of the baby, so Mike actually saw the baby before they brought him around to see me," she said.
Cintron, serving in Iraq, said he?s overjoyed that he was there for the birth of his son, named Michael James Cintron.
?I can't wait to get home to you guys. You don't know how this feels to see you two there and not be home,? he told his wife.
Jeannine Cintron hopes to have her husband return home by the fall, and she said the first thing she?ll have him do is change a diaper. Michael Cintron said that?s one assignment he?ll be glad to have.
