Department of Homeless Services Officer Theresa Gregg, who was found dead in her Williamsburg apartment last week, was posthumously promoted to detective today.
Gregg, 37, was found unconscious in her apartment on Bedford Avenue with multiple stab wounds to her neck and body. Her death sent shockwaves across the department, where she served for 10 years. Many of her colleagues say they are still in disbelief.
Her co-workers say she always wanted to help everyone, and she had a positive energy that was contagious. They say she had a gift for connecting with the community.
Police say they have not made any arrests so far and that the investigation into her death is ongoing.
