The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office held an immigration forum Saturday in the wake of bias-motivated crimes and scams in the borough.

"Whether you're documented or not, you're supposed to be able to feel safe in the community where you live and able to speak out without being arrested and prosecuted by anyone," says Brooklyn's Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

Gonzalez addressed recent attempts by scammers to bilk seniors and foreign born homeowners out of their homes through deed fraud.

The forum also touched on recent hate crimes and encouraged people to report any incident.

"We need to learn how to get along and not pre-judge one another," says Elizabeth Martin, of Clinton Hill.

Those in attendance told News 12 that they would like to see the forum become a reoccurring event.
