The Division of Consumer Protection is warning families about an increase in scams targeting older adults.
They say the scammer often pretends to be a grandchild or relative in need of emergency money.
The scammer will pressure victims into transferring money through a mobile payment app.
The scammer will also insist family members not be informed because then the scam will be discovered.
