324ds agoThe New York City Department of Corrections says there was another inmate death on Rikers Island.
The DOC released a document overnight that announced the death of 25-year-old Dashawn Carter.
News 12 was told he was in custody at the Anna M. Kross Center and died Saturday.
His cause of death is now under investigation.
Carter is now the fourth inmate to die this year.
DOC Commissioner Louis Molina issued a statement which reads in part, "...We are truly heartbroken for this person's family and loved ones and we wish to express our deepest condolences. As with all deaths in custody, we will work with our partner agencies on an immediate and full investigation."
