Doctors within the system of the New York City Health + Hospitals held a final rally on Wednesday for better wages.

Doctors have been asking to close the gap in pay between what they make within NYC Health + Hospitals and what doctors make out of private hospitals. They say that’s the only way to attract and retain good doctors.

They are also asking for the hospital system to address staffing shortages and inadequate mental health care.

Resident and intern physicians have been rallying since late January at hospitals across the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

NYC Health + Hospitals officials say the current contract is still in place as they work out these details. No appointments or services will be interrupted during the rally.
