To avoid a loss in funding, the Department of Education is using a Craigslist ad to try and fill more than 5,000 seats in the city's Pre-Kindergarten programs.
One school looking to fill seats in the program for 4-year-olds is the Albert G. Oliver School.
"In actuality, it's probably a good thing because I think as many children as possible that can attend Pre-K programs should," principal Donald Mattson says. "It's a good stepping stone for kindergarten."
Department of Education officials surrendered $35 million last year after failing to fill 3,000 seats. Officials, as well as parents and teachers, are hoping the ad will help fill the seats to prevent losing more funding this year.
