The Department of Education wants to put boundaries on the communication between staff and students through social media platforms.

The DOE already prevents workers from posting personally identifiable information about students online. The new policy would limit teachers' communication with students on websites like Facebook and Twitter.

The DOE says it hopes to have a completed social media policy in place by the end of April.
