A dog owner who says her pet was killed by a pit bull says dogs at Brower Park in Crown Heights should be kept on leashes until changes are made.

Robyn Berland says she was walking with her two dogs on the sidewalk next to the park around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when a pit bull suddenly attacked and killed her dog, Ralphie.

She says the woman to whom the pit bull belonged simply walked away.

Police confirm that Berland filled out a dog bite form.

The Parks Department says dogs at Brower Park must be leashed between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

"With support from NYPD, we will be doing proactive outreach over the course of three weekends this fall, with informational tabling in the park," the department said in a statement. "The goal of this is to hear the community's concerns, educate park-goers on Parks' rules and regulations for dogs in the park, and survey desired areas for an official dog run should there ever be funding in place to build one."

There's currently no funding for that dog run, officials say.
