A family is grieving after a U.S. marshal shot and killed their dog early this morning.
The incident happened at 508 Amboy St. in Brownsville.
Police say a group of NYPD officers and U.S. marshals were executing a search warrant for a wanted fugitive at around 6:20 a.m.
They say the 3-year-old dog, Browley, attacked one of the marshals, who was then forced to fire his weapon at the dog. Approximately 10-12 rounds were fired and Browley died at the scene.
According to a police source, the wanted fugitive that investigators were looking for was not at the address.
