The Orange County domestic violence agency Fearless! is getting ready to open its new shelter.

The 20-bed facility cost almost $4 million to build and was completely funded by state grants.

The location is being kept private to protect victims. It is separate from the agency's first location with 17 beds.

Advocates are thanking Sen. James Skoufis for helping secure hundreds of thousands of dollars for the project.

"And the idea that hundreds of victims and children, while we wish that they didn't have to go through a shelter, they do need to have a place that's safe and allows healing and allows time to plan for what their next step should be and that shelter will outlive all of us," says Fearless! executive director Kellyann Kostyal-Larrier.

Fearless! hopes to open the shelter within the next few weeks and says it's actively looking to fill at least a dozen jobs to open the facility.
