The DOT proposed a new redesign for McGuinness Boulevard which focuses on making it safer for cyclists.
The city and community have gone back and forth on the plan for the roadway multiple times in the past year.
The new design will install parking-protected bike lanes on the boulevard from Calyer Street to Meeker Avenue.
The proposed idea is to get rid of one of the two existing vehicle lanes and replace it with a parking lane. A barrier will be placed next to the bike lane so that nobody can park there.
Local elected leaders say they "credit the Adams administration and Department of Transportation for taking the safety in Greenpoint seriously."
The DOT also says they are committed to making the streets safer no matter if you're traveling by car, bike or foot.
