Families in the Sterling Houses say they have been left with no gas, no hot water and no heat – adding that the New York City Housing Authority hasn’t fixed the problem that started eight months ago.
A step into the home of Melinda Veazy or many other homes at 1447 Sterling Place will reveal apartments with stoves that don’t work and sinks that don’t have hot water.
News 12 last spoke with Veazy before Thanksgiving. Veazy, who has lived at the Sterling Houses for two decades, says that she and her neighbors had to suffer discomfort during the holidays due to these remaining issues.
When News 12 spoke with NYCHA in November, they said that part of the problem is due to a leak on the gas line, and that they are working with a vendor to make repairs.
News 12 has reached out to NYCHA again about this ongoing situation and is awaiting their response.
